How Daily Water Need Is Estimated

A common rule is 35 ml per kg of body weight. Add ~350 ml per 30 minutes of exercise, and multiply by 1.15 in hot climates. Most adults land between 2–4 L per day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 8 glasses a day enough?

It's a rough average for a 60 kg sedentary adult. Actual need varies with weight, climate, and exercise. This calculator personalises it.

How much water is too much?

Drinking over 1 litre per hour for several hours can cause hyponatremia (low sodium). For most people, 3–4 L spread through the day is safe.

Does coffee/tea count?

Yes. Mild diuretic effects are offset by the water content. Plain water is still ideal because it has no calories or caffeine.

Do I need more water in summer?

Yes — add 10–15% for hot or humid climates. Hydrate especially before sun exposure and workouts.
